Huge software development projects require regular testing to ensure key safety performance metrics are still being achieved after code changes. rFpro’s highly detailed simulations allow for both full fidelity perception, control and chassis simulations to be run in closed loop, real-time or fully synchronous simulation. This gives our customers the opportunity to run every level of complexity – from single unit tests all of the way up to full vehicle system level – where every sensor’s input is simulated at the same time whilst the tyres and chassis ride over a vehicle dynamics grade road surface to ensure the correct vehicle dynamic response to the driving inputs.
rFpro can be used to develop and validate vehicle sensor systems by feeding highly-accurate simulated data to either the real sensors or sensor models. This enables sensor manufacturers to accelerate development and testing while frontloading the engineering before creating physical prototypes. It covers all common sensor technologies including camera, radar, LiDAR, infrastructure sensors and mapping interfaces. This enables the ego vehicle’s entire sensor system to be tested at the same time. Up to 80 simultaneous feeds per vehicle are possible, all synchronised perfectly in simulation to within 100µs in real-time. Each sensor may be fed multiple simultaneous streams, for example to support RGB, HDR, depth, point-cloud, optical flow, object segmentation and road segmentation. In this way, the data to train, test and validate sensor models and algorithms may be streamed simultaneously.
rFpro also supports off-the-shelf sensor models, such as IPG’s CarMaker Physical Sensor Models module, sharing the IPG Road5 road network and Claytex’ library of physically modelled sensor models.
