As the festive season approaches, the rFpro team are excited to unwrap and share the gift of innovation with our community. This year has been a merry ride, filled with developments that have snowballed the realism and usability of our driving simulation software. Join us as we showcase some of our biggest development features from 2023 through rFpro’s 12 Features of Christmas.
On the 1st day of Christmas, rFpro sent to you our Scene Editor Tool!
Introducing a powerful Python API to our Scene Editor tool, providing the flexibility to create a vast range of challenging and interesting test cases. Swap, move, scale, and rotate objects with ease, injecting variety in to your simulations.
2nd … Varjo Headset Support!
Step into the future of virtual reality with rFpro as we proudly support Varjo headsets. Our integration includes foveated rendering, providing an immersive experience that aligns with the cutting edge of simulation technology.
3rd …(3)60 Degree Recording!
Capture the magic of every angle with our 360-degree recording feature. Directly from our software, create videos for open-loop VR viewing, allowing you to relive and analyse your simulations from any perspective.
4th …an ever-growing model library!
The world’s largest digital model library continues to expand. This year we’ve added the Tomei Expressway in Japan among other locations.
5th …Live O(ooooo)bject Visibility!
Take control of your scenes with our live object visibility feature. Hide or reveal objects in real-time during simulation, adding a dynamic layer to your scenarios and enhancing the adaptability of your simulations.
6th …LED Flicker Simulation!
Increase the realism of your simulations with our enhanced LED PWM frequency calibration. Accurately simulate LED flicker from different light sources.
7th …Custom test environments!
rFpro now allows you to create your own custom locations. Export from MathWorks RoadRunner and conduct simulations in environments tailored to your unique requirements and specific test scenarios.
8th …Improved Headlight Simulation!

We’ve brightened up your simulations with major improvements to our lighting capabilities. Experience high-definition recreation of detailed vehicle lighting, bringing a new level of accuracy to your virtual driving experience.
9th …Simulink Independence!
rFpro users can now compile independent vehicle, sensor, and traffic models from Simulink. This breakthrough allows for the creation of separate models, enabling extensive and intricate simulation testing.
10th …HDR(10)!
Bringing a touch of brilliance to your simulations, HDR10 now works seamlessly with rFpro. Experience enhanced visuals and realism on the latest projectors and screens, making every detail pop with vivid clarity.
11th …Ground Truth Data!
We have the capability to generate functional ground truth data during the simulation, such as identifying parking spots and whether they are free or occupied. With the added ability to generate different ground truth classifications for a range of sensors during the same simulation.
And on the 12th day of Christmas, rFpro sent to you a Ray Tracing Revolution!
Saving the best for last, our biggest present of the year is the introduction of fully ray-traced simulations. Accurately replicating how sensors perceive the world, this transformative feature is set to revolutionise the development of automated driving systems.
This festive season, the rFpro team would like to thank you for being part of our valued community and wish you a very merry Christmas.
